Secrets to Soft and Smooth Skin in the Winter

Hey guys! So earlier today I was thinking about how cold it's getting and how I'm going to need to switch up some of my skincare routines because of the cold weather. So I went online, did some research and wrote down some things I found and added some things that I already knew and decided to share with you guys :) So let's get started with ways to keeping your skin happy and healthy in the winter.

  • First! You need to start moisturizing like fifty times as much as you normally do. In the morning and at night, after every shower, before bed, like the whole nine yards. Trust me, you'd rather "over-moisturize" than under and risk having dry flaky skin.
  • After you take a shower, instead of rubbing dry, pat your skin dry and actually leave your skin a little damp. Also, take some baby oil and just put that all over your body, minus your face, and that will help seal in all the moisture in your skin.
  • Dump your high perfume lotions and start using something with more natural ingredients. Perfumed lotions tend to dry our skin out instead of actually moisturizing so it's better to just stay away from them and get some heavy duty lotions.
  • Makeup-wise, switching to a liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer will feel and look a lot better. This will keep your face looking healthy and dewy instead of dry and cakey. Also, start using cream eyeshadows, blushes, and highlights for the same look. Your skin will just look and feel much better and you won't have to worry about the makeup sliding off your face since it's so cold.
  • Drink lots of water! Now, I know this is hard, especially in the winter. But, if you don't drink water, your skin will not be moisturized. The End.
  • Cut down your exfoliation. Please please, don't take this the wrong way. I said cut down, do NOT totally stop exfoliating. Over exfoliating in this weather will kill your skin. But you still need to do it to keep your skin healthy. And be sure to apply lots of heavy lotion afterwards.
  • Consider changing your soaps. Try to find more natural based cleansers instead of such harsh ones. Your skin is very delicate this time of the year, so be very gentle with it.
  • Where lots of chapstick! I think that's pretty self-explanatory :)
  • Dress warmly! I promise if you bundle up and stay warm, not only will your body be happy, but your skin will too. ps. if I see another person wearing shorts, a tank top, and UGGs I'm going to kill them. SO not okay.
That's all for tonight guys! Love you all, and I hope you all had an amazing amazing Thanksgiving! I'm so thankful for each and every one of you who read my posts :) xoxo Kayla

Secrets to Getting Long Sexy Plush Lashes

Hey guys so lately I've been watching a lot of mascara routines and reading a lot about how to get mega huge and long lashes and I decided to make a post of tips from all of those and a few tips of my own that I use :)

  • Layer your mascaras- okay so you've probably heard this before, but it really does work!! Forget about trying to find one mascara that lengthens and one the volumizes. Just get the best lengthening mascara and the best volumizing and voila, huge lashes! And plus, you'll get extra volume from the combination of products.
  • Curl your lashes before AND AFTER you put on mascara. This will ensure that you lashes are as flirty and fluttery as possible. And make sure when you're curling them to get as close to the base of your lashes for the ultimate most natural looking curl.
  • Apply a little bit of baby powder to your lashes in between coats of mascara. You can use a q-tip, finger or brush, just dip it in some baby powder, tap off the excess, and apply to your lashes while they're still wet or tacky. Focus the baby powder at the ends of your eyelashes to make them look longer. This is also a great way to make sure your coating your entire lash with mascara since wherever you miss will be white. LOL
  • Comb out your eyelashes. I know this sounds weird, but after you curl your lashes, take a little lash comb and well comb them out! This will help separate every lash for optimum mascara application (oo big words) and it will stimulate the hair follicle and make your eyelashes grow.
  • Blink down on your mascara wand while your apply mascara. Now this will take some getting used to, cuz it feel really really weird at first. But doing this will force your eyelashes to be combed out and will put the most product on them.
  • Put mascara on the back of your lashes. This will take some getting used to also. And you'll have to be careful so you don't end up with mascara all over your eyelid. But in the end, it will catch any eyelashes that are out of place in the back and make them look humongous because the lashes will be fully and totally coated.
  • At night, apply vaseline to your eyelashes. This will lock in moisture, strengthen and protect your eyelashes. You can also try olive oil or vitamin E oil.
  • Wiggle the mascara wand left to right as you're apply mascara. It will separate the mashes and make sure every one gets coated.
  • Use a lash serum! This will definitely make your lashes grow! I've heard lots of good things about the one by Rimmel so go check it out :)
  • If you're really unhappy with the look of your lashes, talk to your doctor about maybe getting eyelash extensions or a prescription level eyelash serum.
  • Bonus!! To make taking off mascara easier, even waterproof, take your makeup remover wipe or tissue with your makeup remover on it and fold it in a rectangle big enough that it will cover your entire eye. Make sure the whole thing is damp with makeup remover or if it's the wipe just leave it be. Simply take it and hold it over your eye pressing gently over your eyelashes and hold it there for 30 seconds to a minute. Then, still applying a bit of pressure, wipe straight down. Most of your mascara should be off from your eyelashes soaking in the remover. Do this multiple times until all of your mascara and eye makeup is off. This is a much gentler way of removing mascara without tearing out your eyelashes :) And i promise it works!
Hope you guys enjoyed!! Love you! Don't forget to comment below! Whats the most important part of your mascara routine? Anything you do that's out of the ordinary? Tell me! xoxo Kayla

Random Tip for Brown Eyed Babes!!

Okay so I was doing my makeup today and I had a huge revelation. You know how most fall makeup is like more neutral colors and it doesn't really do anything (AT ALL) for brown eyes? Well recently I relocated a product that I used to use quite often and had stopped. My teal eyeliner. And I know you guys are probably like Kayla, wtf but I swear there's a point to this. So I did my makeup neutral and fall-ish like every other day, but when I went to line my eyes, I took a liquid liner and winged out my eyeliner just a bit on the top and then took my teal eyeliner, and put that on my lower lash line. And voila!! A gorgeous, still fall themed, way to make brown eyes pop! Like seriously it looked sooooo pretty, like at the end of the day I was really sad to take it off. So yea that's my random tip for fall makeup on brown eyes :) Another great color if you don't want to go as bold as teal is a nice navy blue, indigo, or plum. These are all great fall colors that will contrast with your baby browns and make them stand out. Then just add some mascara(or a lot...) and your all good!

Holiday Gift Ideas for a Beauty Lover

Hey guys so I was thinking since it's getting closer to the holidays, some of you might want some help on gift ideas for your friends or family. This is probably going to be specifically aimed at teenage girls, moms, and grandmoms. So let's get started!

  • Lush Gift Sets- They have two types: wrapped and knot wraps. The wrapped are exactly what you'd think them to be, they're in boxes and wrapped in cute and festive wrapping paper. The wrapped gifts range from 10$ to 230$, I guarantee you can find something for that special person. The knot wraps are good for someone on a budget, they range from 5-10$ and are wrapped in these adorable little scarves. Very good for stocking stuffers :)
  • Brush Sets- no girl can ever have too many makeup brushes. There are many companies that make good quality and reasonably priced brush kits.  Mac has a few out this season, Coastal Scents has a few, Eco Tools, and of course Sigma has theirs.
  • Perfume- now I know I love getting perfume as a gift. Or pretty much anything that smells good. So either go to your local Macy's and pick up a nice scent you know she's be pining after, or go to Victoria's Secret or Bath and Body works and get some body sprays or lotions.
  • Storage- every girl needs a good way to keep their beauty products organized. So pick up some cute makeup bags or some plastic storage shelves.
  • Makeup Kits or Palettes- every makeup brand has some sort of holiday gift set or palette. Benefit has tons of great quality makeup kits that are worth checking out :) and a great classic is either one of the Naked palettes from Urban Decay.
And of course you could always ask what they want! But these are just some ideas for ideas. If you want more ideas, get onto Pinterest. They have tons and tons of gift ideas! Hope you guys enjoyed :) xoxo Kayla
